Principal Members
Michael L. Robbins,
Ph.D, CRE
Dr.
Robbins has been at the forefront of the real estate valuation and
feasibility industries for over 30 years. A close friend and
colleague to the legendary James A. Graaskamp, Dr. Robbins helped to
build the graduate-level real estate and urban land economics
program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the 1970s and
1980s. While at the UW, both Dr. Robbins and Dr. Graaskamp
spearheaded the valuation of tribal lands throughout Alaska. In all,
almost 500,000 acres of wilderness were inventoried and appraised
over the years.
During
the 1990s, he was instrumental in creating Taurean Residential
Valuation Services, an Internet-based fully automated valuation
system for single-family residential properties using contemporary
appraisal methodologies. Since 2001, Dr. Robbins has lead The
Taurean Group.
With his multi-disciplinary background and
unique feasibility and appraisal experience, Dr. Robbins provides a
well-rounded and grounded perspective for The Taurean Group and its
clients in the real estate process. His mastery of the dynamic
interactions and analysis procedures necessary to create sensitive
and valuable solutions have enabled clients to make more informed
land use decisions.
John P. Norman, MS
Mr. Norman is a partner and
technology manager with The Taurean Group. Experienced in the
application of database technologies to economic analysis and real
estate valuation, John has a proven ability to create innovative
solutions for clients with varying economic needs.
Following the completion of his M.S. degree, John performed
consulting work with Dr. Robbins, including appraisal, feasibility,
and land use modeling. He was primarily responsible for creating
financial and spatial computer models to support real estate
processes and analysis methods as defined by Dr.
Robbins.
John was a partner with Dr. Robbins in developing
Taurean Residential Valuation Services to provide Internet-based
residential property valuations. As the Director of Technology, Mr.
Norman designed and implemented a web-enabled software application
using a proprietary valuation model and custom database.
Mr.
Norman's research interests include the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), object,
database, and web technologies to all types of economic analysis.
John's unique strength is his ability to design and develop
computer-based solutions that are not only used during Taurean's
analysis but that also can form a foundation on which clients can
continue to build a database for their own custom needs and
analysis.
